Toro's History

Toro’s was started in July 2004 by Stewart and a business partner. It started as a Mexican/Spanish restaurant – incorporating some menu items such as Fajitas, Burritos and Chilli con Carne. In May of 2006, David and Averil (Stewart’s step-father and mother) bought in and made it a family business. David especially relished the thought of participating in something that he had always wanted to do.

This was also a good opportunity to change the focus of the restaurant and bring about some differences that Stewart and David felt were necessary. David came up with the idea of improving the front, and so went about getting the services of Hugo Haring – a steel fabricator who makes gates. And so the new front gates and lights were born. Couches were brought in as well as a TV and DVD so as to create the atmosphere required.

The restaurant also changed from a hybrid Spanish/Mexican to a full Spanish restaurant. As can be seen by the façade or from within, the bright bold colours of Spain beam out as an invitation to all to come and enjoy.
